The short version: we collect what the app needs to work — your account, the reviews and check-ins you create, and (only if you turn it on) your device location. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising, we use no third-party ad trackers, and you can change every optional setting or delete your account from Settings → Privacy. The full detail is below.
SnapDolphin ("SnapDolphin," "we," "us," "our") is a venue- and event-discovery app for New Jersey, operated from the United States. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us anytime at support@snapdolphin.com.
We collect only these categories, each for the stated purpose, and we do not use them for anything else:
| Category | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address, display name, password (stored only as a salted hash by our authentication provider) | Create and secure your account. Browsing is available without an account; an account is required for saving, check-ins, reviews, and chat. |
| Content you create | Reviews and ratings, Snap-Check check-ins (venue + timestamp), venue suggestions and edits, support tickets, messages to Pal (our in-app assistant) | Provide the features you're using and show community content to other users. |
| Vibe preferences | Onboarding answers (energy, scenes, times, radius) | Personalize recommendations. Stored on your device; synced to your account only when you're signed in. |
| Precise location | Device GPS coordinates | Collected only with your opt-in permission, only while you use location features, to sort venues by distance and place you on the Pulse Map. See Section 4. |
| Search activity | Text of in-app searches | Improve venue coverage. Not linked to your account. |
| Consent & compliance records | Which policy version you accepted, the time, and the IP address at acceptance; your privacy-setting choices | We are legally required to be able to demonstrate your consent and honor your choices. |
| Device / log basics | Standard technical logs from our hosting and authentication providers | Operate the service securely and diagnose problems. |
We do not knowingly collect more than this. We do not collect your contacts, photos library, or background location.
Precise geolocation is treated as sensitive data and is collected only after you grant permission. When you enable it:
We rely on a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf under contract, not for their own purposes:
We do not share your personal data with any other category of third party except as required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Regardless of where you live, you can use the in-app controls in Settings → Privacy (data-sharing, targeted-ads, sale/share opt-out, and precise-location toggles) and request the following by emailing support@snapdolphin.com:
We respond within 45 days. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision; if we deny the appeal, New Jersey residents may contact the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, and residents of other states may contact their State Attorney General. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
New Jersey residents: these rights are provided under the New Jersey Data Privacy Act. California residents: the same controls satisfy your rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/sharing under the CCPA/CPRA; we treat GPC as a valid opt-out.
Reviews you post, the display name shown on them, and aggregate signals like recent check-in counts are visible to other users. As a safety default, profiles without a verified adult birthdate are hidden from other users.
SnapDolphin is a general-audience service that is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn we have, we will delete it promptly — contact support@snapdolphin.com. For signed-in users we know to be 13–16, we do not process personal data for targeted advertising, sale, or profiling without consent.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including encrypted transport and a managed authentication provider. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and with an in-app notice, and — where required — ask you to review and accept the new version before continuing. The version number and effective date above always reflect the current policy, and we keep prior versions available on request.
